Our Top 5 Favorite Home Accessories from Lakeland

By Cate Sevilla

While I’ve never been a big fan of catalog shopping, I’ve since discovered that Lakeland is pretty much the coolest catalog in the world. Admittedly, I don’t understand what half the things in the catalog do, or what they’re for, but I still find it quite fun. If you’re looking for a fun catalog to look at while eating a sandwich on a lazy Sunday afternoon – this is it.

I’m too damn lazy to actually purchase something by mail order, so I use the catalog to find things that I like, and then go onto Lakeland’s website and order it that way. So! Without further ado, Here are my favorite finds from this month’s catalog:

Ecoballs

Ecoballs!

Looking for a greener way to do your laundry? These planet shaped balls have a sponge ring to reduce the noise they make while rolling around in your washing machine, and they’re even refillable!

Ecoballs are ideal for those of you with babies or sensitive skin as they’re biodegradable, hypoallergenic and free from toxic chemicals. Plus, they’ll apparently soften fabrics even when washed in hard water. Nifty, no?

Plus, there's good news for our American friends, they're also available at Amazon!

Apple Compost Crock

Lakeland's Apple Compost Croc

While I’ve always had the ignorant view point that compost is all about worms, dirt and discarded organge peels, this fantastic Apple Compost Crock has started to change my view.

This will not only add a bit of fun and kitschy style to your kitchen, but it has an activated carbon filter that will keep it smelling rosy.

Unfortunately, this is a Lakeland exclusive, but our readers for our readers in the States, there is this apple covered compost pail available from Amazon, and these nifty looking compost crocs from Gardener’s Supply Company.

Sink Mats

Floral Sink Mats

These sink mats may look like the belong in your bathtub, but they’re really a very good idea. If you’re washing glass and it slips out of your hand and falls onto the sink – it won’t break! Coming in tow different styles, pebble or floral, these PVC mats can be cut to fit your sink and will save protect both your sink and your glassware from clumsy dishwashers like me!

Not in the UK? Both the floral and pebble designs are available over at Amazon!

Recycling Bags

Metallic Recylcing Bags

As Lakeland say, recycling should be a way of life for many of us. However, it’s just unfortunate that so many recycling bins and bags have to be so damn ugly. These colourful, metallic looking Recycling bags are heavy-duty, easy-to-clean and have little handles on them so you can easily transport them to your local recycling centre. Plus, they’ll look so much better in your house than those ugly green bins!

These are also a Lakeland exclusive, but check out this set of Recycling Bags. They’re colorful and labeled!

“The Dolls” Washing Up Brushes

The Dolls Washing-Up Brushes

At first I thought these washing-up brushes were hideous. I wondered why anybody would actually want to put these in their kitchen, as clearly, I have a problem with kitchen accessories that try too hard to be fun. However, after really looking at these puppies, I really like them. While they may be cheesy, they'll definitely add a bit of personality to your kitchen!

While these only seem to be sold by Lakeland in the UK at the moment, check out these fun brushes from Amazon!

I know, right?! I love Lakeland. I don't understand half the stuff that's in there, but I love to oogle and pretend that I'll buy things. :)
