It is too late to deny that Christmas is pretty much here. Suddenly we are merely days away from December, and judging by the fact that it is bloody freezing outside, I should have started my Christmas shopping months ago.
Along with the present buying and the inevitable getting trapped in mile long queues, you also have to worry about the decorating the tree and making your living room into a grotto of wonderful glittery craziness.
In case you do suddenly find that you have a spare few hours in which to craft yourself some home made decorations, here are some of the best suggestions on the interwebs – and there are even a few simple how to guides too.
For people will basic needle skills, these cute felt decorations (pictured above) are just adorable. Plus, they have that effortless Cath Kidson style thing going on, meaning they would look at home on any crafty but classy looking tree. The robin is my little favourite!
I’ll be honest, I can’t work out if these are endearingly kitsch, or just plain awful. However, you have to give these little Victorian images with their sparkly decoration some credit, because they are made out of jam jar lids!
It doesn’t matter how crafty you are, even the most two-left-handed person can make something fun with saltdough. This little saltdough snowman decoration is a cute example, and if you are anything like me it will make you feel nostalgic for those childhood sessions, where you made something out of saltdough, eating a little along the way…
Finally, if you are one of those lucky buggers with plenty of time to spare, why not go all out and make something really complicated, but utterly satisfying? A real edible gingerbread house is something of a holy grail for kids, and to be honest it is for me too – just make sure to save me a piece!
