Some people have immaculate dishware in their home: everything matches, nothing is chipped, and it’s probably worth more than my car. I am not one of those people. I love mismatched dishes and accent pieces, especially when it comes to teacups, serving bowls, and platters. Not being gifted at throwing ceramics on a wheel, instead I have grown my collection of mismatched wares through craft fairs and second hand shops.

Insect and animal themed, California-based Catherine Reece of Village Clayworks makes functional, decorative vases, bowls, and mugs. Her adorable rainbow set of bird vases (pictured above) is perfect for people who keep fresh flowers in their home, or for storing dried flowers and other home décor items.
Nothing says you’re special like your very own one-tiered cupcake platter from Jeanette Zeis Ceramics, especially if it says “you’re special” on it.

If you’re feeling really special, of you love to entertain, check out her two-tiered and three-tired cupcake stands. Looking at these just makes me want to bake elaborate things that are too precious to eat.
