At the beginning of last year we had a chance to sit down for a chat and a cupcake with Lorraine Pascale, the brains and beauty behind Ella's Bakehouse in Covent Garden.
Knowing how incredibly motivated, hard-working, and passionate about food Lorraine is, we were hardly surprised to hear about Lorraine's new show Baking Made Easy and her new book of the same name.
Baking Made Easy the TV show is all about baking for real people - not just your domestic goddesses or foodies. And while Lorraine may be a former super-model, her passion and knowledge of food and baking quickly melt away any prejudices you may have against a gorgeous, thin woman telling you about how yummy a perfect meringue is.
Lorraine knows her stuff, and it must be said that it's incredibly refreshing to see a young, relatable black woman on TV talking about food, rather than than your crazy haired white male, or generic posh country lass.
Lorraine isn't the first model-turned-chef to hit our TV screens and bookshelves of late, however, she is much more believable as a serious chef than Sophie Dahl is, in my opinion.
Three cheers for Lorraine Pascale and her fantastic show and book, Baking Made Easy!
Baking Made Easy is on BBC 2, Mondays at 20:30, and Baking Made Easy the book is currently on sale for £11.39 on Amazon.co.uk. Plus, you can visit her bakery, Ella's Bakehouse in the Covent Garden Piazza.
