Lorraine Pascale's "Baking Made Easy"

At the beginning of last year we had a chance to sit down for a chat and a cupcake with Lorraine Pascale, the brains and beauty behind Ella's Bakehouse in Covent Garden. Knowing how incredibly motivated, hard-working, and passionate about food Lorraine is, we were hardly surprised to hear about Lorraine's new show

Vegan Nibbles: Belgian Waffles

I apologize for still being on a breakfast kick. But I also don't apologize, because these waffles are delicious. This is just a basic recipe, but you can jazz it up any way you like. For instance, as you can see in my picture there, I added sliced banana and dark agave nectar (which tastes a lot like maple syrup thankfully, as I was out of maple syrup).

How to Make Cake Pops!

Pottering around Harrods' sugar-stuffed confectionery department in a fit of Christmas shopping last month I came across Cake Pops.  I was smitten.  They're cakes on sticks - utterly silly, pointless and edible, and so I loved them. "More sugar?" you bellow, mysteriously taken over by the voice of a stereotypical woman. "We can't possibly have more sugar.  Well, go on then, if it's sparkly!"  Luckily it is, and they're fun and silly to make.  Lik...

Post-holiday sadness has sunk in and you’re back to your normal routine. Keep the holiday spirit going with a delicious treat that won’t compromise your healthy resolutions! The overindulgence and madness of the holidays has passed and reality has returned. Perfect Calendars for the New Year

It's January, and this means a number of things to different people.. To some, it's all about diets, fitness, and giving up eating anything that even remotely tastes nice. To others, it's about reading self help books, signing up for Yoga and focusing on their Dharma. And to the rest of us, it simply means that we need to buy a new calendar.

Vegan Nibbles: Ultimate Oatmeal

We’re hitting the depths of winter here. Skies are gray. Sidewalks are slippery. It’s getting more and more difficult to get out of bed in the morning. S.A.D. is starting to set in. To combat such misery, I’ve started making an effort when it comes to weekend breakfasts. Waffles, pancakes and baked bananas galore! But my favorite so far has been proper, ultimate oatmeal. Proper because you ...

Baileys Hazelnut Chocolate Truffles

It’s the Crimbo Limbo, and we’re all living off leftovers, chocolates, biscuits, and various kinds of snack-mixes. Basically, it’s divine, but come New Years Eve, if you’re hosting a get-together for friends or just staying in, you’ll probably want to enjoy something other than a turkey sandwich or tin of Quality Street.

Holiday Food Made Easy: Salmon & Spinach Terrine

Although we look at the end of the year as an exciting time to be with loved ones, it's often the most stressful. Haven't had a chance to plan a meal for this weekend's festivities? No problem.  The week of merriment, sibling banter and Bing Crosby tunes has arrived. Inspiration for a dish to contribute to the holiday feast has not. What do you do? First, do not stress. The only one who is going to put cooking performance pressure on you is you...

Vegan Nibbles: Having a Vegan Christmas

I thought this week, instead of giving you one Christmas themed recipe, I'd put together a whole Christmas feast culled from my favorite blogs! First, for breakfast, while opening presents, what could be better than Babycakes NYC's Banana Bread? I'm kind of completely obsessed with Babycakes, which yo...
