Tried and Tested: Emmi Caffé Latte

Earlier this week, I really fancied an Iced Coffee on the way to work, and popped into Starbucks for my personal favourite, the skinny iced mocha. And it cost me £2.10, for little more than ice and milk. The profit margin on them must be obscene. It probably costs Starbucks more to give you the cup than it does its contents!

Meat Free Morsels: Sweet Roasted Veg & Goats Cheese Pasta

Vegetarianism is a bit of a hot topic at the moment.  Whether you are concerned about ethical treatment of animals, the environmental implications of the meat industry, or simply can't afford to keep buying it in these economically  tumultuous times, there have never been more reasons to join the herbivores. Even if you can't bear to give ...

Sophie Dahl's New Cooking Show on BBC2

Sophie Dahl – the overly smiley model, cook, and writer – has a “delicious” new cooking show headed to BBC2 in early 2010. (No word on if she'll be cooking on her back like this photo in ecademy's announcement of the show suggests, but we'll let you know...)

Tasty Quickie: Sausages with Roasted Fennel

Fennel has been a pretty trendy ingredient amongst the 'Abel and Cole' types for a while, and as a consequence, I have sort of shirked away from it in the vegetable aisle. Who knew it was possible to inflict a bit of inverse snobbery on vegetables! When I recently acquired some (from a friend who had it left over from her vegetable box delivery), I decided to stop being a twat and give it a go, and came up with this yummy dish.

Cakes To Your Door: When You Can't Be Bothered to Bake

While some of you are laziness enough to make your Ocado order from your iPhone, I’m sure there are even more of you who are lazy enough to have cake delivered to your front door. Launching today, the new Cakes To You Door does exactly what it says on the tin – it delivers cake to your door. Aimed at “busy parents” who are under an immense amount of pressure to “...

Get Your Fang On With Vamp Wine & Vodka

Throwing a party to mercilessly mock the latest Twilight film? Indulging yourself in a vamp-themed costume party? Getting ready for Halloween? Take it one step further and spice up your party with some vampire-themed beverages. I'm not sure if this is a pathetic attempt to publicize a bad product, or a legitimately campy branding scheme. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Homemade Takeaway - Tom Yum Soup

The other week, my cousin gave me a pretty nifty little Tom Yum soup kit that she picked up in a Thai supermarket in London. The kit contained lemongrass, galangal, lime leaves, chillis, and a lime. When I cooked the various ingredients up into a soup with some coconut milk, stock and vegetables, the flavour was amazing. I keep banging on about it, but I continue to find it to be true: if you have the right ingredients, making delicious, and really authentic (in this case) Thai food is...

Tasty Quickie: Savoury Filled Crepes

Last week I took a train under the English Channel and spent a week in France. As is often the case with cliches, many of them were true, especially the culinary ones. Seriously, I have never eaten so much baguette et fromage. One of the culinary cliches I was pleased the see upheld was a love of crepes. I always say that it is a shame to only eat pancakes on pancake day, so you know, when in Rome! A...

How to Have a Big Green Wedding

A friend of mine announced her engagement this week, and she let me know she wanted to have a green wedding. She asked me for some tips and suggestions on how to make her very special day just a little bit more environmentally friendly. While some things go without saying - like no conflict diamonds - a lot of work goes into planning a wedding. Here are some tips to get you started on your environmentally-friendly wedding.

Homemade Takeaway – Thai Green Curry

When I go to Thai restaurants, I always try really hard to get something other than Thai Green Curry, but almost always fail. It is just too tasty. Get yourself a good quality Thai curry paste though, and you can create a dish of restaurant standard at home, for a fraction of the price, and hardly any effort. The paste you buy really is key, so I would recommend steering clear of the supermarket usuals on this occasion (Sharwoods, anything with
