Vegan Nibbles: Tat Soi Lentil Salad

It seems everyone on the internet is doing lentil salad this week, so why not me? My version is a little Moroccan, a little Asian and a lot delicious. The base of this salad is tat soi, an Asian green that tastes like a spicy spinach or a mustardy bok choy. It works really well with the spicy Moroccan flavors in this salad, but if you can’t find tat soi by you, feel free to use arugula or baby spinach instead.

Northern Star: 5 Favourites from Rose & Co

Although I’m a Londoner born and bred, a little part of me remains forever in Leeds as I have close family there. It’s not often I get the chance to visit Leeds city centre in fleeting visits, but when I do there’s one shop that’s always on included: Rose & Co.We’re lucky now to have a plethora of vintage / kitsch shops across the UK, and this is one of my favourites, with retro clothing, cute smellies that make Lush products look and smell like a teenager’s deranged chemistry expe...

Vegan Nibbles: Hazelnut Flapjack

Thankfully, while my flight-provided orange was confiscated, airport security had no problem letting me back on American soil with a giant jar of questionable liquid in my luggage. You see, golden syrup is really hard to find in the US so I made sure to stock up on that dreamy, liquid gold while I was in London specifically to make these addictive, childish indulgences.

Goodies from Lakeland to Blow Your Mind!

In a world where everything can be Googled, and you can potentially find out and discover new things every second via Twitter or Facebook, it’s rare to have your mind consistently blown by something else, other than the Internet. The thing that constantly blows my mind is... The Lakeland Catalogue.

Vegan Nibbles: Easy Bean Salad

I spent this past week at my old college roommate’s newly purchased house (congrats again, Sarah and Marcus!). I passed the time communing with Mid-Atlantic nature, doing various summer camp appropriate activities and playing 1950s housewife to my favorite working gal north of the Mason-Dixon. It’s tiring being a fifties housewife, especially in temperatures reaching 95 degrees with the humidity as high as it can possibly be without it actually raining. So by the weekend, my baking and...

Starbucks Discoveries: The Perfect Treat

Gimmicky coffee drinks are incredibly annoying. Frappé-coconut-strawyberry-cooler-whatever, I say.So when I first spotted the new Starbucks Discoveries drink in my local Starbucks, I rolled my eyes. I admit it. I was pleased to see that Doubleshot cans had finally made it to the UK, however, I was unsure what this Seattle Latte business was about.

French Delights: Double Chocolate Soufflé

As much as I love spending time with my in-laws around a wonderful meal prepared with copious amounts of butter, salt and love, my thighs dread it. You put French people around a table without some form of meat and cheese and someone’s likely to get hurt (usually the vegetarian).Over the last 4 years, my mother-in-law has been slow to understand that pouring half a container of sugar onto a fruit salad does not make it “light” and that molten chocolate cake after a plateau of roast bee...

Fox's New Biscuit and Tea Tasting Guide

"I prefer a nice cup of tea to sex." - Boy GeorgeWhat could need less thought than your tea and biscuit? Kettle on, package open, insert in mouth. Well, Fox's Biscuits wants you to reconsider everything and to get you to approach tea and biscuit combinations as if you were pairing wine with your dinner. I had my doubts, but I have to say I was won over.

Vegan Nibbles: Key Lime Tartelettes

As soon as it becomes architecturally sound and physically possible, I’m moving into a Key lime. I will spend my days lying in a hammock listening to reggae. It will be awesome and you’re all invited to come over because I will be serving these tartelettes around the clock. These little confections are part Key lime pie, part cheesecake, part ice cream and one hundred percent easy, no-bake summer treat. If you’re new to Key limes, they are smaller, more yellow, and more acidic than the...
