The UK seems to be awash with tea sets, tea parties and cupcakes; the more the merrier, say I.Poppy Greens is a welcome addition to the vintage tea party, providing elegant china hire, the obligatory bitesize sweet treats and very pretty ‘cottage garden’ flowers.

Nothing rounds off a meal better than a big ol' bowl of crumble, drizzled in sweet, thick custard. However, nothing causes one's arse to expand more rapidly than a big ol' bowl of crumble, drizzled in sweet, thick custard. You really can't beat a home made dessert like crumble, but it is an occasional treat, for the aforementioned reasons.

Sausages need not simply be served with mash, a fry-up or in a sandwich. Nor for that matter, must baked beans be confined to mere toast and jacket potatoes. Liberate these foods and allow them to emancipate one another in this delicious sausage and baked bean casserole! Hyperbole aside, this is a hearty, not massively unhealthy dish that is a quick and easy winter warmer, that is also great heated up for lunch the next day.

Stickers were great for putting on plastic Care Bear lunch boxes, although they aren't so trendy nowadays. If you're a Mac owner did you open your shiny new computer box, joyfully pull out the white apple-shaped stickers proceed to stick them all over your thousand pound machine?I didn't, because I am a snob and like the idea of my shiny machine staying sleek not looking like '90s garbage. Sleek now it is not having added one small dent and some dirt to its repertoire). ...

Now that it's cold again, my slow cooker has gone into overdrive. I had neglected it somewhat over the summer, but now I am using it once again to make stews, soups and roast meats galore. Sounds a bit Henry VIII doesn't it? Clearly there is a flaw in using a 'slow' cooker for a tasty 'quickie', but actually, most dishes made in it require very little preparation, and you can leave it cooking all day while you're doing other stuff, so in terms of time and effort required from you, it i...

While I hardly know anyone under the age of 35 that actually uses their home landline instead of their mobile phone – I still love how non-mobile phones look and feel.Sure every time I go to use one I get a bit confused about not having to press “call”, but they’re still nifty to have in your home.

Baked Ziti is a classic American pasta dish, that is essentially like a big baked bolognese. Perfect, easy to make comfort food for a chilly Autumn. Traditionally it has meat in it, but has the kind of sauce, that so long as you stick to the tomato base, and slather it with cheese, you can throw in, or not throw in, whatever you fancy. In this recipe, delicious cannellini beans, a personal favourite, and mushrooms take the place of meat.

As the nights draw in and we head deeper into autumn, my seasonal love of stodgy mash returns as reliably as the frost. Bu-bye salad, sushi, our summer romance was a good one, but right now, I think we're just in different places and I've started seeing potatoes.
Similarly, richer meats like lamb become a more regular occurance on my plate in the latter months of the year. Lamb has always been BFFs with mint, so pairing it with the herb is a bit of a no-brainer. Mixing the mint into...

Technology makes it nearly impossible to want to send physical mail. Why use a pen and paper? You have to go and buy the damn stationary, then write out whatever it is what you want to say with a pen, you know, manually... it all seems like a pain n the ass.(Especially considering that The Royal Mail is making impossible to send anything by post, anyway.)

A proper ganache is basically melted chocolate and double cream – not difficult to make but you might well not actually have cream to hand when you decide your cake needs jazzing up with a rich chocolate glaze. This ganache is cobbled together from store cupboard ingredients and is pretty imprecise and very hard to make badly.
