This week, the first week of my month-long vegetarian trial, I braved dangerous territory and went to my favourite Indian restaurant. I always get tandoori chicken, which let's be honest there is no meat-free alternative for. I didn't think my veggie ways would last the evening, but last they did, thanks to the humble lovliness of the aubergine (egg plant for you yanks).

The thing about inventions is that despite how cool and fun they might seem, you always have to wonder why. Why do we need that? What’s the point? And this is exactly how I feel about Liquid Cardboard.

A few years ago, I used to frequent a brilliant little noodle bar that did the best char sui pork noodle soup. There was something about the richly marinated pork, with the light, clear broth, that was just delicious. Combined with thick, udon noodles, and crunchy, fresh pak choi, it made for a really hearty and healthy dinner.

Growing up, we ate some pretty recession friendly foods. From hotdogs covered in Velveeta cheese and smothered in baked beans, to “pizza” consisting of a slice of white bread, mayo, ketchup and a Kraft single – I’m not afraid of White Trash Cooking.

Earlier this week, I really fancied an Iced Coffee on the way to work, and popped into Starbucks for my personal favourite, the skinny iced mocha. Sophie Dahl – the overly smiley model, cook, and writer – has a “delicious” new cooking show headed to BBC2 in early 2010. (No word on if she'll be cooking on her back like this photo in ecademy's announcement of the show suggests, but we'll let you know...)

Fennel has been a pretty trendy ingredient amongst the 'Abel and Cole' types for a while, and as a consequence, I have sort of shirked away from it in the vegetable aisle. Who knew it was possible to inflict a bit of inverse snobbery on vegetables! When I recently acquired some (from a friend who had it left over from her vegetable box delivery), I decided to stop being a twat and give it a go, and came up with this yummy dish.

While some of you are laziness enough to make your Ocado order from your iPhone, I’m sure there are even more of you who are lazy enough to have cake delivered to your front door. Launching today, the new Cakes To You Door does exactly what it says on the tin – it delivers cake to your door. Aimed at “busy parents” who are under an immense amount of pressure to “...

Throwing a party to mercilessly mock the latest Twilight film? Indulging yourself in a vamp-themed costume party? Getting ready for Halloween? Take it one step further and spice up your party with some vampire-themed beverages.
I'm not sure if this is a pathetic attempt to publicize a bad product, or a legitimately campy branding scheme. I'll leave it up to you to decide.
