Sophie Dahl – the overly smiley model, cook, and writer – has a “delicious” new cooking show headed to BBC2 in early 2010.
(No word on if she'll be cooking on her back like this photo in ecademy's announcement of the show suggests, but we'll let you know...)
Made by Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One Productions, Sophie will be, um, cooking on her show, as well as “reminiscing on her own personal food memories”. And who doesn’t love hearing people’s personal memories of hollandaise sauce?
Sophie says:
"For me, food is more than just fuel; it's a joy and an adventure.
"Cooking often serves as an emotional barometer, and with this show we will run the gamut – from a solo dinner that suits melancholy to a homecoming feast for 20, it's cooking with an anecdotal thread, irreverent, unpredictable and not without flaw.
"I am delighted to be working with both Fresh One and the BBC."
We're sure you are, Sophie.
Apparently each of the six, 30 minute long episodes will have a theme where Sophie will “revisit treasured and nostalgic places giving insight into the resonance and meaning behind each recipe. “
It’s like Story Cook Time with Auntie Sophie!
While Miss Dahl’s Voluptuous Delights does seem to be a pretty cool book, I wonder if Sophie’s voluptuousness can battle with Nigella’s, if you know what I mean.
(Did anybody else just have an image of Nigella and Sophie, both covered in Domstic Goddess frosting having a food fight? Letting out ear-splitting kitchen-war-cries, slinging cupcakes and freshly made custard at each other? In lingerie?)
We’ll wait to see Miss Dahl’s cooking show before we judge it (anymore than we already have), but we are psyched that we have another cooking show in our midsts that doesn’t star another middle aged, floppy haired British guy.
Congrats, Sophie!
