Tried and Tested: Ambrosia Crumble Puds

By Laura Silver

Nothing rounds off a meal better than a big ol' bowl of crumble, drizzled in sweet, thick custard.

However, nothing causes one's arse to expand more rapidly than a big ol' bowl of crumble, drizzled in sweet, thick custard.

You really can't beat a home made dessert like crumble, but it is an occasional treat, for the aforementioned reasons.

Ambrosia however, have come up with Crumble Puds, a great way to satisfy your dessert craving, without compromising too much on a healthy diet. The puddings, are made of either peach, apple or rhubarb compote, topped with Ambrosia custard, with a little pot of crumble on the side, and are each under 160 calories. That's roughly the same amount as two chocolate digestives, or a slice of toast with jam. Essentially, very low for a dessert.

Obviously, I had to eat several to responsibly inform you, that they are pretty tasty. A low-fat crumble in a pot, is of course not going to match up to the butter-laden deliciousness your Nan makes, but then nor is the calorie count, and for a healthier alternative, they are really very good.

The only downside, is that they are a little low on fruit compote, and heavy on the custard, making it more of a fruity custard, than fruit with custard, but if you're into custard, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

For true authenticity, you can even heat the fruit/custard in the microwave.

Ambrosia Crumble Puds are available from supermarkets for just 69p.
